Sissy Pattillo

Sissy Pattillo, Advisory Member

A lifelong resident of Macon County, Carolyn “Sissy” Pattillo attended Women's College in Greensboro to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Education. Her studies were interrupted by the sudden death of her father when Sissy returned to Franklin completing her degree at Western Carolina University; she then received her Master’s degree in Education and School Counseling from WCU. Following her love of education, Sissy devoted her 34 year career to touching the lives of several generations of students in Macon County. Married to Pat Pattillo, a retired coach and educator, they raised their two children, Rocky and Meg, in the house where Sissy grew up and where the Pattillos are enjoying retirement today. Son Rocky lives in Franklin and is married to Pam; they have two children Quinton and Madi. Meg is married to TJ Sutton and lives in Easley, SC with their two children Elizabeth and Landon. Sissy and Pat always look forward to spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Sissy’s name is synonymous with community involvement giving generously of her time for the betterment of Macon County. In addition to her role on the Foundation Advisory Board, she is currently serving a four-year term as Alderman after running a successful campaign based on land planning in 2005. Using her expertise and ideas to enhance the beauty of Franklin, Sissy is a member of the Franklin Main Street Program, Inc. While her children were in the school system she was the President of the PTO, she served on the Hospital Board of Trustees, First United Methodist Board of Trustees, the Friends of the Macon County Public Library Board, and was the State President of the School Counselor's Association to name a few.

Sissy knew the Angel family well and recalls the early days of Angel Community Hospital. She remembers the role the community played in helping sustain and improve the hospital during various campaigns including Operation Heartbeat. Sissy loves Franklin and Macon County and considers herself “A local girl who had the opportunity to leave and the opportunity to come back.” When asked about juggling the demands of her time, Sissy replied “We need to be involved if we expect others to care".
