Foundation Nets $15,000 for Digital Mammography System.
The Foundation for Angel Medical
Center hosted its inaugural fundraising event on Saturday,
August 23, 2008 netting over $15,000 towards the purchase
of the newly installed digital mammography system at Angel
Medical Center. The Together We Can Give the
Gift of Life Fashion Show and Silent Auction
underwritten by Macon Bank enjoyed widespread community
support with numerous donations and over 300 tickets sold.
The Foundation Board members carefully selected the talented
models to show off the latest fall fashions from Tanner
Outlet, WNC Sports Zone, and Baby B’s, while My Favorite
Things and Lisa’s Corner provided accessories including
the most recent offerings from the Vera Bradley line.

The team of Billi Black and Ron Winecoff greeted guests
as they entered the Fellowship Hall that had been transformed
into an elegant setting with linen tablecloths donated by
Alsco, Inc. of Charlotte, gorgeous gift boxes decorated
with beautiful ribbons and complementary leather jewelry
cases donated by Stewart’s of Franklin complimented
with pink seed ribbons donated by Hologic. Angel Medical
Center CEO Tim Hubbs welcomed those in attendance and thanked
them for their support. Jane Brown acted as Mistress of
Ceremonies, while Bobbie Contino and Lionel Caynon donated
their time to create the ambience for the afternoon with
their musical selections. Angel Catering provided a scrumptious
lunch of chicken salad, delectable fresh fruit, followed
by luscious strawberry cake for dessert served by the Foundation
Board members and volunteers.
Local businesses and individuals responded generously to
the Foundation Board members who solicited items for inclusion
in the Silent Auction which netted close to $6,000. While
some organizations responded by offering merchandise at
cost, others made outright donations and purchased ads in
the program. Ron Bernard, Jim Cooper, Dom D’Ascoli,
Tom Fagg, Mark Garber, Bob Justin, Trent Johnson, Pat Patton,
Dave Sanford, Ed Shatley, and Wayne Swank capably answered
queries as they manned the stunning displays during the
Silent Auction. Marty Wadewitz snapped marvelous photos
to capture the memories of the day.
