Martha Johnson
Martha Johnson knows the medical profession on a first hand
basis. She is a registered nurse and managed Nantahala Radiology
for many years before she retired. During her tenure at
Nantahala Radiology, Martha ate lunch daily at the hospital
and came to know and love our wonderful hospital employees.
She is married to Trent Johnson, a well respected physician,
who retired from Angel Medical Center after over twenty-five
years of service to residents of Macon County. She and Trent
raised their daughter Andrea in Franklin and Martha volunteered
regularly with the schools. She and Trent have witnessed
the growth of Macon County along with the demand for services
provided by Angel Medical Center. Martha is an avid supporter
of the Foundation for Angel Medical Center and is committed
to the success of the Foundation and of Angel Medical Center.
“We moved to Franklin in 1974 so my husband, Trent,
could provide our community with full time radiology service.
Angel Community Hospital, as it was called then, was small
and needed a major addition and new equipment. Along with
the Chois and other members of the community, we helped
recruit new physicians and watched Angel grow into one of
the finest and best equipped hospitals west of Asheville.
Working with the Foundation for Angel Medical Center is
my way of showing appreciation to the people of Macon County
and helping insure that Angel Medical Center will continue
to thrive and offer top quality healthcare to the residents
Franklin and the surrounding communities.”
Martha is a charter member of the Century Club and has
served as Chair and Co Chair of the Century Club Board.
She also served as President of the Beta Sigma Phi Zeta
Gamma Chapter an international women's organization that
sponsors one major community service project, four scholarships,
and several smaller service projects in Franklin each year.
Martha enjoys reading, hiking, biking, traveling abroad
and RVing in the States.
