Support Groups and Community Classes

Diabetes Management Services
A ten hour class on diabetes self management is offered with instruction on meal planning, exercise, sick day guidelines, stress management, self monitoring blood glucose, etc. The program is certified by the American Diabetes Association and is taught by two Certified Diabetes Educators. There is a fee for this class which can be billed to Medicare or private insurance. Classes are offered several times per year on an as needed basis. For more information call (828) 369-4166.

Adult and Infant/Child CPR Classes
American Red Cross Adult and Infant/Child CPR classes are offered several times per year on an as need arises. A fee is charged for these courses. For more information call (828) 369-4181.

First Aid Classes
American Red Cross First Aid classes are offered several times per year on an as needed basis. A fee is charged for this course. For more information call (828) 369-4181.

MORE Class (Management of Osteoporosis through Rehabilitation and Education)
Classes are offered several times throughout the year on an as needed basis. It is an eight hour course offered two hours per week for four weeks. This course provides information on how to manage and live with osteoporosis. There is a fee for this class which can be billed to Medicare or private insurance. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

BLS (Basic Life Support)
This class is offered several times per year. A fee is charged. For more information call (828) 369-4481.

Freedom from Smoking Program
The American Lung Association’s “Freedom from Smoking Program” is offered on an as needed basis. The program provides participants with knowledge on how to become tobacco free. There is a minimal fee. For more information call (828) 369-4181.

Childbirth Education Classes
Classes are offered one Saturday per month from 9 AM to 4 PM. The classes provide information on childbirth preparation, postpartum care, and infant care. An outline of the class is available. A fee is charged for this class. For more information call (828) 369-4421.

Diabetes Support Group
The group meets the 4th Monday of each month at 6 PM in the Angel Medical Center dining room. For more information call (828) 369-4181.

Hearing Impaired Support Group
The group meets the third Monday of each month at 1:30 PM in the Videoconference room on the second floor at Angel Medical Center.

Chronic Pain Support Group
