Vascular
(Venous & Carotid) and Arterial
Overview-
A vascular and arterial ultrasound exam looks at
the blood vessels in the body to determine if there are any
problems with dilatations, blood clots, or calcifications.
These vessels are located all over the body and in the extremities.
Venous Ultrasound-
You will be asked to lie on your back and the ultrasound technologist
will put gel on the extremity being examined. The transducer
will be moved over the veins to determine if a blood clot
or other abnormality exists. Your physician will be contacted
if a blood clot is present.
Preparation- No prep
Length of exam- Approximately 30 minutes

Arterial
Ultrasound-
You will lay on your back and the ultrasound technologist
will put blood pressure cuffs on your arms and legs. These
cuffs are hooked up to the Parks Flo Lab arterial ultrasound
machine. They measure the pressure and blood flow in the different
areas of your extremities. They can detect calcifications
and blockages in the extremities.
Preparation- No prep
Length of exam- Approximately 30 minutes
to 1 hour
Carotid Ultrasound-
You will lay on your back and the ultrasound technologist
will put the ultrasound gel on your neck. The ultrasound transducer
will be moved over the carotid arteries in your neck. This

exist.
