Speech Therapy
The Rehab department at Angel Medical Center
offers a variety of therapeutic services, including speech
therapy. Our speech therapy staff is highly trained and attentive
to each individual’s needs so we are able to care for
you or your loved one. We use a personalized approach with
one-on-one attention to help you meet your goals for recovery.
The patient and their family members are involved in the recovery
process so that every step of the way, the treatment plan
remains individualized and personal.
Our staff of Speech-Language Pathologists hold masters degrees
and national certifications and are licensed by the state
of North Carolina. With a combined experience of 28 years
in the field, we offer some of the top speech pathology services
in western North Carolina.
Many patients of the hospital suffer illnesses that require
the assistance of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
Here are just a few of the illnesses/injuries we treat:
• Stroke
• Head trauma
• Head and neck cancer
• Parkinson’s disease
• ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)
• Other degenerative diseases
• Cleft palate and lip
• Developmental delays
• Surgically associated deficits
Some patients may require speech therapy right away to begin
talking or to begin safely eating again. The above mentioned
conditions and many others can create speech, language, or
swallowing deficits such as:
• Inability to speak
• Inability to remember words or thoughts
• Articulation errors
• Slurring
• Drooling
• Choking while eating or drinking
• Voice problems
• Stuttering
Talk with your doctor if you notice any changes in the muscles
of the face, mouth, or throat or an inability to process language
like you did before the incident. A speech therapy treatment
program with our friendly staff may be right for you. For
