Special
Services
Lactation Services
The nursing staff of the Women & Children’s Unit
are nurses with special training and experience in counseling
and assisting women with breastfeeding. They are available
to offer help and expertise to mothers who have made the choice
to breastfeed or have already begun breastfeeding.
Hospital Support
After the baby arrives, rooming in allows you the optimal
opportunity to get to know your baby, respond to feeding cues
and perfect your breastfeeding skills. Our nurses receive
many hours of specialized education in the area of post-delivery
care and breastfeeding to assist you. They will answer your
questions, provide education on maternal and infant care when
you are discharged from the hospital, make referrals with
other agencies to provide care and assistance and include
the father and grandparents in the process.
Outpatient Visits
Mothers who have delivered at Angel Medical Center may request
outpatient appointments for additional lactation support.
These visits are complimentary. Patients are encouraged to
call the Women & Children’s unit at any time of
the day or night with questions concerning mother or baby.
Questions will be answered by registered nurses trained in
telephone triage. The nurse will be able to contact physicians
when needed for additional follow up. The unit phone number
is 369-4421.
Gift Shop
Specialty gift items for the newborn and family are available
in the volunteer’s gift shop located in the main lobby.
Community Education Department
Angel Medical Center has a community education department
that can provide additional health information and classes
on various healthcare issues. Diabetes education, smoking
cessation, health fairs and a variety of information is available
through the community education department. The phone number
to call is 369-4166.
